Design: Antoní Gaudi
The extraordinary and compelling nature of Gaudi‘s architecture has rather overshadowed his equally remarkable furniture designs. Rich and sculptural shapes arose from a combination of Gaudi‘s imagination and the extraordinary gifts of Catalonian craftsmen. Furniture designed by Gaudi is as modern today and as highly sought after as it was when it was first designed.
The Calvet Mirror is outstanding amongst these designs because of its expressive force. It was designed in 1902, along with four other pieces, an armchair, a chair, a stool and a bench for the Casa Calvet. The Calvet Mirror continues to be made today using traditional art and craft techniques and the same materials.
