The Swedish design partnership Claesson Koivisto Rune was founded a little over ten years ago but has already received extraordinary recognition. Like Scandinavian masters before them, such as Aalto or Jacobsen, Claesson Koivisto Rune practise both architecture and design. In 2004 they were among the first Swedish architects to be selected for the international section of the Architecture Biennale in Venice.
The three co-founders are Mårten Claesson (b. 1970, Sweden); Eero Koivisto (b. 1958, Sweden); and Ola Rune (b. 1963, Sweden). The company’s work includes architecture, furniture, and interior and product design, for such clients as Asplund, Cappellini, David design, E&Y, Iittala, and Offecct.
Claesson, Koivisto, Rune won the Utmärkt Svensk Form (Excellent Swedish Design) award. In 1998, it was awarded the grand prize (for exhibition design) at the Formex Design Fair in Stockholm. In 2000, it received the Guldstolen (“Golden Chair”) bi-annual award (for the Sony Music headquarters, Stockholm) from the National Association of Swedish Interior Architects (SIR), and the jury award (for The Future of Wood in Our Homes housing project) at the Bo01 building fair, Malmö.
