David Weeks

Brooklyn, New York based Designer David Weeks studied sculpture at RISD and graduated in painting. He is known for his lighting products for Ralph Pucci as well as his more humorous products for Areaware.

"I came from sculpture and painting, so I think as well with my hands as I do with my head. You work at so many things so quickly when you’re actually building prototypes full scale, so you immediately see what’s wrong. For some people, it’s easier to build a design up from nothing, adding more and more, but I’d rather start with a big block of foam and cut it back. It’s the difference between working in stone and working in clay."
