Hans Brattrud designed his most famous chairs, the Scandia range, in 1957, using the wood-bending techniques that Finnish designer Alvar Aalto experimented with in the 1930s. Brattrud developed Aalto’s laminating technique further to create the beautiful curved and organic shape of his timeless chairs. Hans Brattrud is still active, keeping careful attention to the original detailing and design of his beloved Scandia chairs.
