Hussl - ST10 Stacking Chair by Hussl & Arge2

A Light, Springy and Resilient Stacking Chair

Design: Hussl & Arge2

Designed to be a sophisticated and robust stacking chair, the idea of the ST10 is to use sandwich technology which has been developed by the skiing industry.

Bonded to a central core of high quality wood composite, two aluminium-strengthened external tension layers are attached to a sturdy and yet flexible construction. Applied to wooden chair construction, this manufacturing technique is a novelty and allows for sleek dimensions with considerable stability at the same time.

The chairs' considerable ability to withstand pressure and tensile strength provide the robust and yet flexible configuration of the rear legs and the back. This means it has been possible to design the ST10 so that the back section is only 8 mm thick! This provides the chair with its original and distinctive outline. And it also means that the back rest is every so slightly springy and completely stable. The crossbars are once again made of thin, strengthened solid wood, the front legs and ergonomically shaped seat are made of coated plywood.

As with all other chairs by Hussl, the surface finish of the ST10 is a quick change artist in terms of its characteristics, colour and coating. The wooden version of the chair it is coated with fine-line varnish. Yet it is also available with textured phenol resin coating, in a dark stain or a colour finish.

The ST10 is stackable and a version is also available with cushions. With an effective weight of just 5 kg it can also be classified as light wooden furniture.
